Green Gradient Quilt Tutorial

IMG_0449.jpg

This baby quilt is one of the most popular physical items in my store! The pattern is quick, easy and very flexible, so I thought I’d share it with you today! It’s really easy to scale this quilt up as well. This pattern is a great scrap buster and you can adjust the other measurements based on what scraps you have on hand. This tutorial will result in a roughly 34” x 41” quilt, perfect for a baby or wall hanging!

Supplies Needed

  • One 2 1/2” x 21” strip each of 6 different fabrics

  • 7 1/2” x WOF strip of fabric for binding

  • 1 1/4 yard of background fabric

  • 1 yard of backing fabric

  • 36” x 43” of batting

Steps

  1. From your background fabric, cut:

    • Two 7 1/2” x WOF strips

    • One 21” x WOF strip, subcut into one 15” x 21” piece and one 4 1/2” x 21” x piece.

    • Three 2 1/2” x WOF strips, subcut into five 2 1/2” x 21” strips.

  2. Lay out the 6 different fabrics in whatever order you’d like (dark to light colors for an ombre or gradient look). Sew together the pieces with strips of background fabric in between, pressing each seam to the dark side.
