PDF Patterns on Phones and Tablets

While I always suggest downloading and viewing my PDF patterns on desktop and laptop computers, I know that some people prefer to use their iPhones and iPads. If you aren’t familiar with navigating PDF files on mobile devices, this can be a bit tricky. These instructions are specifically for Apple mobile devices; if you have an Android or Windows device you’ll need to look up instructions for how to save and open a PDF on your specific phone or tablet as it varies from device to device.

iPhone and iPad

These screenshots are from an iPhone, but the same method should work on an iPad.

1) Open the email containing the download link, then click on the link to download.

2) Click the “Share” icon on the bottom bar of the screen.

3) Select “Save to Files”.

4) Choose where in your files you’d like to save the file. You can save the file on your iPhone itself (usually in a folder called Downloads), or in a shared drive. I choose to save files to my iCloud Drive, since they can then be accessed on my laptop as well.

5) Open the “Files” app on your phone, and navigate to where you saved the file to open it.

If you find videos to be easier to follow than screenshots, here is a video screen capture of this example.
